Hello world!
1This is Vinay Swastik’s personal blog, Powered by WordPress. I will be putting up some of my experiences in life, some tutorials for those who want to share the Tech Knowledge I have gained from the world of WWW since three years, and I will be having a collection of some great links where my Blog readers will find wide variety of services that are offered on those sites. Needless to mention, a Personal Web Blog of Vinay would be incomplete without some Pottermania. So, stay tuned, and subscribe to my Blog, if you share the same interests as mine.
Home for the Google Guitar Doodle
0Or, I should rather say that, one of the homes, because I’m so-much-sure that many people in the blogosphere would want to do the same, and may already be doing it.
I don’t hate Movies. I just hate them being so overpriced.
0The rising costs of movie tickets (and the “essentials” for enjoying a movie) have driven people like me to stay at home rather than going to theaters.
The average movie ticket costs about Rs 220. Popcorn costs about Rs 80, and a drink, about Rs 50. Thus, the average expense at a theater is about Rs 350. For a family of four, that’s approximately Rs 1,400 for two-and-a-half hours of entertainment. Include the Parking fees of Rs 100 for a car (or, 2 x two-wheelers, in my case) to make it Rs 1,500.
The way in which movie studios are reimbursed by local theaters has a big role in deciding prices. The studio may can ask for as much as 90% of the revenue from sales of movie tickets, in the first week of the release. This means that the high prices of the “First week” or “First-day-show” tickets aren’t actually benefiting the theaters tremendously. The theater gets more share of ticket sales in next weeks . So, when we go to watch a movie for second time (or first time, but in second week), theaters are getting more share, and giving lesser to the studio.
The Latest Buzz from Google
1Our very own King Google brings in one more fabulous service. Recently, the Gmail account holders must have come across the new social-media service by Google – Google Buzz. I’m here to share my thoughts about it, and later in the post, I’ll be telling some ways to customize it and use it. I’ll also share a trick, which can help you to opt-out from the email updates of buzz, which may have started to clutter-up your inbox.
According to my belief, Google Buzz is is ready to set benchmark in terms of Social Media Marketing. I bet that Google is trying to incorporate a large number of people for Google Buzz. It has already taken a giant leap by inviting the existing Gmail users as part of the Buzz Community, which is a very good start for them. It is better than other social media in a way that it is backed by G-power such as Picassa for photo uploads, Youtube for videos, and what more..
Social Networking is blown to pieces now?
0People who spend maximum of their internet time on social networking sites are the ones who are destroying it the most. A person who creates his first profile at orkut (or any other Social Networking site) keeps it very clean, and types his profile info and scraps very clearly. Then he spends some time there, sees the profile of their friends, and destroys his language, and the simplicity of the profile.
Happy New Year to all
0Finally, the year’09 is coming to an end and this would be my last post in blogosphere for this year. However, I do hope that next year this beautiful tradition would continue. 2009 has seen loads of highs and lows. I just hope that the new year brings prosperity, love and good luck in our lives.
But right now all I can think about is the extent to which I will party on New Year’s Eve. I’m sure that the whole world is having a rocking night planned with friends, family and loved ones. I pray that everybody parties to their heart’s content, but they do remember to be safe this New Year.

Promote yourself as a brand through Google
1Do you understand the real power of ‘Google’ now-a-days? Do you know that your name could become a brand name in itself? D you promote this brand name? What do the people find when they put your name in the Google search box?
Just look at the results for my name. The first page of Google Results for my name is dominated by me. All links are related to me in some way or the other, with none of those which will earn me a negative reputation from someone.
Market Alert: Coming Soon – The Invisibility Cloak
2Invisibility cloak? Am I mentioning something that isn’t real, and is impossible to possess? According to scientists and researchers at Imperial College of Science and Technology (London), such a garment is soon to become a reality.
An invisibility cloak may sound like something from Harry Potter, where our good old lad uses it to move around the school, unseen by anybody (Dumbledore is an exception).
PageRank Update by Google on 30th Oct’09
0It is a pretty happy day for me today, or to be precise, happy day for the budding webmaster that resides in me. The credit of this happiness goes to the company with it’s HQ in Mountain View, California — i.e. Google.
The reason behind this is the recent PageRank (PR in short)update by Google. My twitter profile acquired a PageRank of 4 (on a 10 point scale), in the PageRank update of 30th October 2009. This time, the PR update came amidst a lot of conjectures on various webmaster discussion forums that the PR system is discontinued by Google.
